To Short Sands Beach in York Beach, Maine:
From Highway 95, take EXIT 7, for “The Yorks” (coming from the south, this is the last exit before the tollbooth).
Take Route 1 SOUTH (coming from the south, after exiting you’ll take the RIGHT fork, then bear RIGHT onto Route 1).
Go LEFT at the light onto Route 1A NORTH.
Continue on Route 1A NORTH for 3.7 miles. You’ll pass by the York Street Baptist Church (take the left fork here), through York Village (take the right fork at the statue).
You will enter York Beach and then pass by Long Sands Beach (Sun & Surf Restaurant is on your right), and then past the intersection with Nubble Road (which leads to the lighthouse).
Stay on Route 1A NORTH (aka Long Beach Avenue) as you approach Short Sands Beach. You’ll see the gazebo at Short Sands Beach ahead.
Turn LEFT to stay on Route 1A NORTH (now Ocean Ave) and drive by Short Sands Beach.
To the Church (York Beach Union Congregational Church) from Short Sands Beach:
At the end of Ocean Ave, turn LEFT at the stop sign onto Main Street. You’ll pass by the York Animal Kingdom entrance on your right, and you’ll veer left onto Railroad Avenue.
At the next intersection, veer left onto Church Street. The York Beach Union Congregational Church is near the end of the street on your right.
Park at the small lot at the church, park two blocks away back at Short Sands Beach, where there is a large public parking lot.
To the Union Bluff Hotel from Short Sands Beach:
At the end of Ocean Ave, turn RIGHT at the stop sign onto Main Street.
Continue through the stop sign onto Beach Street. The hotel is on your left.
There is some parking in front of the hotel, and a lot more parking behind it. In addition, you may park in the large lot in front of Short Sands Beach.
